Famous Friends
So, I am finally taking the time to sit down with all of you and update my blog. I do apologize for the long and annoying break in my blogging life...but too much happened all at once and I just didn't have the time. But, believe me, all of you made it known to me that you wanted more to sink your teeth into.
My question for the day is: What kind of famous friends do you have? I guess the real question here is, have you ever met anyone famous? I know that I have had a few brushes with celebrities...but I want to hear from y'all. To get us started I thought I would give you some inspiration with some pictures of Jacque with the President and Marilyn Monroe. Guess which one is real?
My claims to fame brief and obscure. I had Dusty, from ZZTop at my 8th birthday party. The sad thing is that it was completely lost on me. I was confused as to why everyone wanted the scary-guy-with-the-creepy-beard's autograph. Unfortunately it was later on in my life when I was introduced to the songs of ZZTop and realized what was done for me. The way that all came about was that a long-time friend of the family, Kie, used to fly ZZTop's private jet and invited them to my party to try and impress me.
My other brush with greatness was at work (when I was in high school). I worked at a popular restaurant that was known for its long waits. We were towards the end of the night and a gentleman came in to ask the wait time. He put his hand over mine on the podium and asked nicely the wait. I was writing stuff down and didn't even look up when I blurted out that the wait was currently around an hour to an hour and a half. He said that it was a little long for him and wouldn't wait. As he started to leave I looked up and noticed that I had just turned away Patrick Swayze. Go me!
Now, I want to know who has the connections...who can I bribe into getting us into the cool places? Give me the goods!!!

Hayley, I'm almost embarassed at the risk of sounding like I'm boasting, but I've lived in L.A. most of my life. Shall I go on??? Uhhh...worked out in the same gym with Keanu Reeves, Lou Ferrigno (the original Incredible Hulk), Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, Carrot Top, the late Gregory Hines, Gabrielle Reece, and some other sports celebs. Bumped into Steve Martin at a museum, worked at Fox Studios in college when Jim Carey was starting out in a show called "In Living Colour" so yeah, sat next to him in the cafeteria. :)
Well, this will be an old response to an old entry - thought you'd given up the blogosphere!
Let's see... 'brushes'...
I was on MTV for a minute with Downtown Julie Brown & hung out with her for a little while, had dinner (in catering) with Lisa Stansfield, bought Pop Tarts for Stacy Q, had breakfast after a show with Herb Ellis, went to John Salley's house after a big victory party in Detroit after the Pistons' 2nd NBA title, endured some stupid story from Tony Danza, spent time (twice!) with "Expose" a few years apart, had Bob Seger come request a song and hang out for a few minutes, had a good visit with Donny Osmond, have chatted with Billy and Dusty of the aforementioned ZZTop, and played Frank's drums (don't tell), have had a drink with Buddy Guy, had too many drinks with Greg Rolie (Journey), used to say howdy to Buster Douglas all the time (1st guy to beat Mike Tyson), was taught how to juggle by Matt Ashford ("Jack Deveraux" on Days of Our Lives) who stayed at our house one summer (my sister was dating him - 'prefame').
Partial list of 'Have met and/or talked to':
Dick Van Dyke
the late Eddie Kendrick
Martha Reeves
Grace Jones
Ramsey Lewis
Clay Walker
George HW Bush
Gerald Ford
Leon Russell
Belinda Carlisle
Milli Vanilli (eww)
Rick Derringer
the late Joey Ramone
Chris Rock
Tommy Hearns
Evander Holyfield
Magic Johnson
Dennis Rodman
Mikhail Baryshnikov
Houston Rockets, Texans
(and I've never been to L.A.!)
...But I guess my biggest brush with greatness was...
meeting William Hung.
:)
I think I'm most impressed with Mikhail Baryshnikov...I love to watch his earlier work. Amazing dancer!
