The Timelessness of The Princess Bride
Let's discuss the true wonderfulness that is The Princess Bride. For all of you that have had the pleasure of seeing this movie, then you know what I am trying to convey. There is something about this movie that transcends age, gender, genre, and time. Like the beginning of the movie says, "are you kidding? Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes..." It's not just a kissing story.
I recently had the chance to read the book that this movie was based on. What surprised me was the sarcasm and wit that is so unique to this movie is in the book practically word for word.
It amazes me that someone wrote this almost a hundred years earlier and managed to be sarcastic. I recommend the book to anyone that loves the movie (there is so much background in it that adds to the experience).
One of the best things about The Princess Bride is its quoteableness (I'm not sure if that's even a word). There are many lines that simply begged to be used in
everyday conversation. For example, "Humperdinck, Humperdinck, Humperdinck!" or "Death cannot stop true love. All it can do is delay it for awhile." But my favorite is, "Life is pain, Highness! Anyone who says differently is selling something."
What is your favorite quote? Do you have one that you use regularly? Or maybe there is another classic movie that you always quote in your everyday conversations. Tell me...I want to know.

Hey, it's me! This is my new blog ID for prolife work.
So we're still blog buddies!
hey there
Thankx for your comment - it was great. I haven't seen this movie yet that you are talking about - but I think I will go and see it now. I think I may just "steal" some off the things off your list - if you don't mind :)
To tie movie quotes to your Astros thread remember, "There's no crying in baseball!!!" from "A League of Their Own."

My favorite movie quote is from "Bull Durham." Crash Davis (Kevin Costner) says, "Well, I believe in the soul, the cock, the pussy, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days...Good Night."
Period. Best movie quote ever.

I quote movies all the time in my conversations...but the most often used quote from The Princess Bride is, "Thank you SO MUCH for bringing up such an unpleasant subject. And while you're at it, why not give me a paper cut and pour lemon juice on it?!"
